Default Problem with honda accord 1990 distributor

In another thread https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...409&p=49882796
I am opening a new one becasue in the reply i cannot upload photos.

the advise was to change my distributor o-ring. So I went to NAPA and got the o-ring for honda accord dx distributor.

Went back , put the distributor apart and it didn't have any o-ring...so the leaking was there!....and the O ring doesn't fit . It is to big. No matter how I put it, when I put in the distributor in place, it goes all the way back. IT doesn;t stay at place.

I guess the distributor I have is not authentic?

I am attaching some pics and info ...

The other info is what is written on the alternator:

TD-31U 3601 in the metal part

TEC honda PP~T in the plastic part.

Please help (

If anyone can download this pic and guide me to where o-rings go, I will really appreciate it

The oring looks like its the correct size. I dont really understand how it can slip back off the shaft when you install the distributor. I would suggest going to the nearest honda dealer and getting an oring from them.

Well, you see the black thing? If taht is teh o-ring I thought it was not. It is so worn out it didn;t even feel like rubber so I tried the o-ring between the o-ring and the metal part, that is why it didn;t fit. I will have to take the old out with a sharp screw driver or a knife.

I will do it tomorrow.

Oh ya it normally gets hard over time. Thats probably why you think its not. Just cut it off or pry it off and roll the new one onto it because you want to try not to stretch it.

Mine was very hard and I couldn't cut it with a knife. I had to chisel it out with a small screw driver and a hammer. It broke apart and came out in pieces. The new seal went on easily and the leak stopped.
