Is there any kind of muffler, resonator combo that is stupid quite?

I don't wana mess with a cutout again and I don't want police pulling me over and making me spread my **** everytime I wana go do hood rat **** in my beater.

I'm asking here because I know there's a lot of turbo vets behind the scenes.

Thanks again brostephs.

When I was an exhaust newbie, I was trying this and that. Resonator this and that.

The best advice given to me was WS2=Done.

^^^ got that here on HT in the tech section.

Turbos are mufflers

If the Fiat and SRT4 don't need mufflers, neither do you!

The "problem" with sound clips is that how it's recorded makes all the difference. And most youtube sound clips do start up, and WOT. Wow....cool....

IRL, IMO, you can hardly hear it from the inside of your car, windows up. Sound like stock 80% of the DD situations. I recall at times, I want the windows down to hear it.

It's the best exhaust because there is no drone, even for sensitive ears.

So is WS2 for you?

If you ask a forum that you want the quietest exhaust, the WS2 is for you.

If you ask a forum that you want an exhaust that is "not too loud" then you have to hear it in person because that mean different things to different people.

Some guys don't like WS2 because it's "too quiet."

Note: WS2 also comes in Universal "now" (not in my days). Universal is not the same muff can (inside) as the catback. Catback is where it's at.

BTW, my review above was on a 06 Sentra SE-R Spec V with stock header and cats.

I later replaced the header with aftermarket, and it sounded a bit louder. Still had one cat.

I like my car as quiet as possible. I had a 3 inch cutout to my stock civic piping and loved it. The cutout is just a pain in the *** to get right and stay working. Is this muffler for me?

Yes magna flow was the name I forgot about this. Where do I find these? Summt?

Sound performance cutout in this supra. Only opens when you are in boost doing hoodrat stuff.

I made one last year. The machinist didn't get the tolerances right. I used it for about a year doing hood rat **** around cali. Then I bought a qtp cutout. Its a 4 inch tho so I never put it on. I like being able to control it with a switch or wire it into my ems and have the ems control it after a certain rpm.

the thermal muffler with a resonator is fairly quiet and throaty... not raspy at all, especially for a 3"

any muffler style like the WS2/Thermal R&D will be quiet by design, a resonator will improve the noise reduction, kill rasp, and cause a tiny bit of back pressure increase but nothing worth noting.

The key is a free flowing muffler, anything like a chambered flowmaster style muffler will just suck, a lot of people just the thrush turbo muffler, it's a straight through design, much like a glasspack.

they are super quiet, i know NotARacist has one and loves it, I test drove a 350SM chevy truck on tuesday with long tubes, true duals (no cats), and two thrust turbo mufflers. Thing was almost dead quiet, just a nice low grumble

The 3 inch Vibrant Stealth Muffler and 3 inch Vibrant Resinator was a very nice setup on my car.

I'm using the same setup and can vouch for it. Cheap 3" ebay SS exhaust, cut off the fart can and added a vibrant stealth muffler. The exhaust itself has an 18" resonator built in. I have essentially zero drone on the highway. The car sounds only slightly louder than stock at idle. It's almost too quiet but I love it. Nobody expects that they're about to get their *** handed to them by a nearly 20 year old 4 door grocery getter. When the wastegate opens at full tilt...it's a whole different animal like you said.

I have the cheap Yonaka ws-2 knock off with a Dynomax 24' bullet resonator. You don't hear my car idling when standing next to it and when I am on it, all you hear is turbo spooling and motor. I am upgrading soon so I only hope I can find something that is as quite in a 3' setup.

It has been my personal choice for years in several cars...have to cut the flange off where it was meant to attach to the cat.( which I hope your not using)or it will taper down and not be 3 inch all the way. I have been just using band clamps to tie into the down pipe ...

It will be quiet enough to hear the slightest turbo noises in the car and be able to have a conversation without yelling...until the wastegate opens...

Have to agree about the Apex WS2

Any of the 'old school' 60mm Japanese cat-backs were always super quiet on a turbo Honda if you're not at power levels that require bigger.

Good luck finding something you like. It's an important aspect of enjoying the car IMO.
