I'm at the point where i know how to repair, replace, or remove every part in the vehicle and i'm reaching the last. I know the names of some of these but im still unsure on the functionality and i've heard mixed things... I know part 1 probably has something to do with the braking system but the wire harness thats attatched to it throws me off. Its attatched to the firewall on the passenger side with a bracket. I know part 2 is called the charcoal canister but im not sure of what it does. I've taken it off before and nothing happened but i put it back on to be safe. Someone told me it cleans your intake? Lastly i've searched long and hard in my repair manual and many websites and ive narrowed down part 3 to either a "dashpot" or a "thermostatic air cleaner". Its mounted on a bracket behind the throttle body and there is a hose that runs into the firewall. A coworker told me it could just be a "breather tube" Any help?

 

number one - windshield wiper motor - self explanatory

number two - charcoal canister - part of the evaporative emissions system to keep fuel vapors out of the atmosphere - see description below
