plastic tube end fell in ATF fill hole
I finished filling my ATF and the extension tube I was using on my funnel came off and fell in (2010 Odyssey). I have fished around as best as I could, moved the vehicle and tried again, but no luck. The tube is 7/16 diameter, about 3 inches long, clear soft plastic. I have looked at other forums, and advice for similar things (plastic ATF bottle cap) has been to leave it, and then drain the transmission again, looking for evidence of mashed or bits of plastic or bits and pieces that come out. I guess the idea is if it actually comes into contact with gears, it will get chewed up. Any other advice or recommendations? I am really, really hoping the advice isn't to have the transmission taken apart.
OK, update time. I did another drain and fill after driving for about 100 miles or so ( hiway and town). The good news is nothing came out. The bad news is nothing came out. No bits of plastic, or anything else that might indicate damage, and no issues with the transmission noticed during the drives. So this plastic tube is still sitting in their somewhere, hopefully out of the way. I checked a piece of tubing of the same type in a jar of new tranny oil, and it sank, so at least it shouldn't float around too much, might just settle somewhere and stay there hopefully. Anyone have any thoughts?
No thoughts here.
But it seems to me that next time, you might be better served to use a funnel that will reach the fill hole:

This works on my Pilot and my Ridgeline.

Glad you have no ill effects.
Better late than never with my response.... I may be wrong, but I thought that automatic trannys did not have gears. Isn't it a fluid pressure thing? Anyway, my thought is that the hose hung in the curve of the filler tube. Since it did not completely clog it, any future filling will just be a bit slow.
