Low on freon will cause that. Did you hook up some guages to see where the pressure is at?

Jump the thermostat. Does it still cycle?

Sounds like its low on freon. Check that first.

The refrigerant would have to be extremely low to make the compressor cycle off. This is inconsistent with the fact that the A/C blows cold.

Well he said its "blowing cool". So If it blowing cold it might something else, But if its blowing cool then it might be low.

My 96 ex does the exact same thing. Has extremely cold air but compressor cycles every 5-10 seconds. And I checked freon and it's right where it's supposed to be. Sorry I'm no help, I kinda just got used to it haha

I had this same problem as well, but mine only cycles off when I come to a stop.. Once I get in motion again it starts blowing cold air... A/C problems are the worst..!

Possibly a bad condenser fan motor. If the high side pressure gets too high the compressor will cycle on and off to regulate the pressure. It would've worse at a stop with no air flow though the condenser. I've also seen a/c systems with air or moisture in the system and it causes high pressure on the high side of the system while driving down the road or at a stop. Also wouldn't hurt to maybe check the gap on the clutch.

Maybe overfilled too, too much pressure in the system the switch will shut down the the compressor once the pressure drops it will start again. Need a gauge to see for sure.

I took it to my local mechanic and it has the right amount of freon buy he said that whoever installed my compressor had put too much Pag Oil in the compressor. Would that cause the issue?
