ECU upgrade for '02 S2000
Sup erbody, my dad has a S2000, and he was wondering (me too) if there is any good companies out there that have good ECU program upgrades, or full ECU replacements?
Any Comments?
Any Suggestsion?
Any Experiences good or bad and what set up?
Ive had the Mugen N-1 on my Type R and it was a tremendous difference and i was wondering if there was a similar upgrade for the S2000 or if ECU upgrades are even worth it with the s2000. the S2000 engine might run hella good with a nervous on the border program with no cat/ str8 pipe, i would love to see/ hear that.
thanks, Peace yall

Programable is the only way to go. There are no program upgrades, even Hondata has been unable to reverse engineer the stock ECU.
Only Mugen and Spoon are selling stand-alone preprogrammed ECU's and they are somewhat agressive, but very unfriendly to certain modifications.
Dumping the cat and exhaust will probably lose power on the S2000.

You can go for the Spoon N1 ECU or Mugen ECU. I believe you'd be able to run the test pipe without causing a CEL (check engine light) to activate. Also, look into the AEM EMS.
Somehow i doubt you....and the cars you've owned...
get off my dick man. just cuz u got more post than me dont make ur car any more real than mine. sorry i found this website 5 YEARS late.
for all the rest of you that replied, thanks for the info!! im gonna look into the mugen and spoon and see if i can find out what they exactly do.

i got 2 solid runs from my corolla when i had it -
12.7@ 124mph and
12.6@110mph (i blew 2 pistsons during this run in the top of 4th gear- i was on my way to a ~12.3- u can tell by the low *** trap speed, just cruised through)
DONT FORGET TO PUT RACE GAS WHEN YOUR GONNA RACE!!!! thats how i blew 2 pistons / rings
both passes done on street tires with full interior. just like how i drive it on the street.
Programmable Would be the best way to go, but my dad doesnt want to have to deal with dyno tuning and going to someone to have them drive the car and figure out a good setting. TO Much HASSLE!!!
He's not trying to extract that much more power from it, and it will probably remain stock engine wise except for an intake and hi flow cat.
I had an Electromotive Tec2 in my Corolla, and with a crazy over the top set up like that, fully programable was the only option. It was also a HASSLE diagnosing problems that arised from the various sensors, and the car would run funny sometimes and no one would know why. The flexibility was great in the Tec2 --- but a stock S2000 doesnt need that much flexibility in programming----
Programming an engine from scratch and all the trial and error and driving and dyno runs- my pops sure as hell doesnt wanna go through all that headache like i did. its a real pain in the ***.
so i still would like to hear if any S2000 owner actually has the Mugen-n1 or the Spoon Sports Computer and any comments. the websites ive looked up dont really say to much.

You should look into the dastek unichip piggyback for the ECU. They've proved ~25 rwhp(smooth as hell curve) with just a test pipe on the car. It's pretty much the same thing that hondata does, but hondata hasn't produced anything for s2000s yet. Check out http://www.performancemotorcars.com/ for more info on the unichip.
my fault guys, they released it for the RSX a month ago, not the s2000.
Im sure the s2000 isnt to far away though
