I have a 2000 Prelude with an automatic transmission. When I am in park or neutral it makes a load noise. When I put it in gear the noise goes away. Any idea what could cause the noise?

 

Bad bearing maybe

 

Hate to ask, but What type of noise is it making ? { Squeeking / Squeeling / Clunking / Tapping / Grinding } Is it constant / intermittent / oscillate ? is the pitch high / low ?

 

Bumping this since I started to have this exact problem and found a video. It seems like the most common solutions have been a rebuild, which may result in the same issue down the line, or a swap to a 5-spd. Anyone have any luck identifying the issue early enough to not require a rebuild/swap?
