Default Tips to salvage this bumper filler

Title says it all. I bought a bumper filler, supposedly not damage, and it came bent. I guess I can harass fedex, but I'm wondering if this is something I can fix fairly easily. Can I just heat it and bend it back? Rubber mallet? Channel locks?

Good side:

Not so good:

Bracket piece on the one side is a little bent (feels flimsy enough to bend back)

Other side is good though

This is the piece that goes between the hood and front bumper cover, in case anyone didn't know.

You can probably get away with what you're thinking but it would be better to pick up a decent hammer/dolly set for body work. It's quite easy especially since you can maneuver around that piece as needed.

hammer/dolly set aye? I will get on google, see what it looks like, and ask around. I do, quite fortunately, have access to a lot of nice tools at work.

Ironically enough, I've actually used these before. My '74 VW is a steel body, so I've spent a fair amount of time hammering at it. I'll see what I can find around the shop.

Thanks, glad I can probably get away with it. Chances of this piece snapping? I know it's quite 'flexy'. I don't want to twist it back into shape and just have it snap.

Since the end result is to get the metal back to flat, you could probably just use a lightweight hammer and the back end of a table vice. Gently tap it back - heat it up first.

I'll see what I can do tonight and this weekend. I appreciate it. I'm hoping it goes smoothly.

I agree with 4drEF. Heck anything flat that you can fit in there that's solid enough would work if you take your time.
