Default Motor mounts with turbo

I tried searching I thought for sure there would be some info on this but it came up empty

At what power level are stock motor mounts no longer suitable?

My stock mounts are pretty ok Right now but upgraded mounts seems pretty common. Im looking at AVid motor mounts ....the price is right My boosted setup is gonna be 350HP+ maybe 400

Stock mounts suck even N/a .... Get some soild torque mounts or inserts or buy a set of solid mounts ... When u get a turbo u don't want that stuff moving or ur gonna have problems

Stock mounts will not last very long at the HP levels your looking at. I'm running Innovative mounts, the 60A streets. Have held up for me at 400 plus HP. Also the vibration isnt bad at all, hardly noticeable. Car doesnt feel like a giant vibrator lol.

I use the Avid mounts tuner series which are 62a plus the upgraded torque mount on the trans side. I also just bought a torque damper to add as well. I think the Avid racing ones are decent but how do you mess up engine mounts??

At 200 WHP, my stock mounts **** themselves with a quickness. ANY kind of real FI build should include mounts. I just picked up some Yonaka mounts for stupid cheap. They're doing the job for me, and for the price, I don't see how they can be beat. If you're on a budget, check them out.

Cool thanks for all replies. Yea i seen the yonakas I would go for those if i was on a strict budget. Ill try the avis as Ive heard its made by hasport. I just hope there not to stiff. How do the Yonakas feel?

hasport does not make avid mounts

hasport makes hasport mounts

if you are going forced induction and driving on the street i would recommend 70a urethane

dedicated track only car then i would go with 88a urethane

Im at 234whp turbo d16. Im running all stock motor mounts with a prothane insert in the rear. Its been that way for over a year. I have no issues at all. % 100 street machine. Your power goals are a bit higher than what my car makes lol.

Stock motor mounts suck on a stock motor

Also keep in mind that stock motor mounts on our cars are 10-20 years old

Just go with Hasport/Innovative mounts at 60a, it's a safe bet

Im running the Avid 65as with torque mount inserts all the way round and its good even at 600whp.

Or you could be a cheap *** like myself and spend $15 at Lowes and fill the stock mounts yourself. Mine are pretty stiff and vibrate a good amount too. Some billet mounts will defiantly look better though.

Yea thanks ive known about this trick for years Actually the mounts i have now were filled but i took off the urethane about 6 months ago due to vibration, Didnt have a turbo setup at the time. I usually get the industrial roofing urethane, honestly the trick to that methos is letting them cure for about a week before installing. Trying something more legit this time arround you know for looks and all that not billet though that would cost too much

The problem is the amount of "flex" that the stock mounts have. The torque increase will cause even greater amounts of flex and any flex that is moving the motor isn't being put to the ground.

Also the increased flex will wear out the stock mounts fairly quick, leading to tearing and ripping. Depending on what chassis you're building, especially if it's a 96-00 civic, the drivers side upper mount will go first... since it's a liquid filled mount the center post always rips out of them.

I personally use 100% solid mounts but I don't care about the slight amount of added vibration. The only other mount I would use are the innovative mounts... good quality for the money and they have different stiffness inserts. I had the red 90a inserts on my DD sohc civic and liked them but I've gone solid now

Yes, the driver side motor mount just LOVES to **** itself under increased torque load.

That pic was after a year of 200 WHP DD abuse (no track use), and another year of NA Y7 not-so-abuse. Stock mounts suck.

Yea I got an EK I know that mount design is really bad all the aftermarket mounts us a bracket and different style mount so i should be good.

Generally, but not always. If you're using those hardened rubber OEM-style mounts (Hardrace mounts, for example), that's not a good idea. If you're running 65 or lower poly, it's not the best idea. As long as you stick to 70 or above poly, yeah, you can go ahead and chuck the front torque mounts.

this is what can happen when you "ditch" the torque mounts. regardless of aftermarket mounts or not
