Default Replaced automatic tranny 2000 civic and now only p0700 code HELP!!

This is my girlfriends vehicle so im not very knowledgeable on Hondas. I am a VW tech, which isn't saying much, and have been trying to fix this car for five days now. Like the title says I replaced the automatic transmission with a used transmission with supposedly 90k on it. After reading thread after thread it seems that I should have a specific code to go with the p0700 code but I do not. I have a blinking D4 and CEL. The fluid is at the correct level. When I put it into gear its shift very harshly and seems to be in limp mode. Please help me out with this I have tried everything I know.

I hope you replaced it with the exact same model. It does matter.

Sounds like you put an EX transmission in a DX/LX, or vice versa. That's a no-no. Check your transmission codes.

The P code is your CEL, but the D4 light should also give you a separate code. Check that, too. Also, after you've pulled the blink codes, reset the ECU and see if they return. If you don't know how to pull blink codes, check the FAQ sticky - there's a how-to there.

I knew I shouldn't have listen to the guy who sold it to me..the transmission look exactly the same. How do I go about figuring out if it matches my VIN?

Also I tried to lookin in the FAQ but nothing that I searched came back with results. Im scanning with a Snap on scanner, should that show me info on the D4 or is there a special way to code it?
