1g dsm bov vs. 2g dsm bov
I paid a guy 35 dollers for a 1g dsm bov. When I got the bov, it was a 2g. Is there a performance difference between the 1g and 2g bov? I only plan on running 6 to 10 lbs of boost. Should i bother sending it back for a refund?
Well thet 2nd gen bovs are plastic and suck ***, but fortunately for your application, it may work. but that plastic pos is not worth 35 bucks, i'd get your money back, or at least a partial refund.
It might work fine for what your doin but I think you should still try gettin your money back. The 2g ones are plastic and they are garbage compared to the metal 1g bov's.

hey guys..i just got myself a 1G dsm bov. i was curious if there will be any leaking problems if used on a honda turbo set up. i notice on the stock dsm engine bay (a WRX engine bay also), the bov has a line that routes back to the air filter of the stock intake. so it can filter out the blow off valves air so itd be smog legal. so my question is,
IF a stock dsm bov is originally created for rerouting the air back into the intake filter, will it leak air (or anything weird) on a honda turbo set up, where the air is just blown into the atmosphere?
i hope u guys get my question..if not, ill try again

its possible for the bov to allow air into the charge piping and allow stuff to get sucked into your motor. some people put a filter on it.
most people here just run it unconnected. i am not certain which way the air is moving at idle so i am not sure what i am gonna do

But Honda's use a "speed density" setup which reads MAP (manifold absolute pressure). It calculates fuel according to the MAP sensor readings , which allows us to run a vented BOV.
I don't know about the saab unit but it seems very similar to the 2gen dsm. I recently tested a 2gen bov on my friends eclipse and it leaks horribly at higher pressures. Just as a test we decided to plug the hose that routes the air back to the intake and see how bad the bov leaked. he has his boost controller set to give him around 14 psi with the bov routed normally. On the first bit of acceleration with only slight throttle movement the boost gauge instantly spiked over 20 psi. So that blow off is leaking a significant amount of air.
