Club Racers: I need to interview YOU for a Journalism paper
Here's the deal; I'm writing a feature article for journalism class on club racing. What I need to do is interview the subject, and hopefully accompany them to some sort of track event. I thought I had a subject lined up but I haven't been able to get in touch with him lately so I may need to find someone else to interview.
I know it is late in the year, but if you are attending anything in the next few weeks within a reasonable driving distance of Allentown, PA (eastern PA) and are willing to do this, I'd really appreciate it. Before your egos get too pumped, this isn't going to be for publication, strictly for class. At best it will be read by a bunch of frat guys who think pie eating is more of a sport than racing is.
The kind of person I'm looking for is someone who competes regularly at track events and club races. In other words you spend more on your car than your house and your wife is ready leave you because you blew the kitchen refurbishing fund on track tires. Club racing is ideal, but if you happen to be Peter Cunningham I'll settle for that too
I can crew for you if you wish, but be warned that the words I live by are "You can always get a bigger hammer"

Why don't you go to Summit Point this weekend for the NASA race and talk to people there?
Matt
I'd be willing to help you out as well. I will be at Summit Point with Bookler this weekend. It is probably a 3 hour drive from Allentown BUT you will have the opportunity to:
- Interview 2 club racers who are competitors (I use that term VERY loosely when describing myself) in the Honda-Challenge series
- See what goes on at a race track as well as see the HPDE process in action (the progression from autocross to W2W racing)
I think me and Bookler would be great subjects for this project . . .
If you want/need directions hit up Bookler (Speedracer33) since he is coming from your neck of the woods.

Will you be running both days? (I'm not familiar with how an HPDE is structured). It will be difficult for me to be there the whole weekend since I'm behind schedule on the body work for our FSAE car, go figure
Ideally I'd like to be there Sunday.
A couple other questions:
-Will you be available for at least a combined hour of time for an interview? I could do this part via the web but face to face is always better.
-Can you deal with me hanging around and asking lots of annoying questions?
-Would it be possible for me to ride shotgun on one or two laps? (Okay, this isn't really necessary for my journalistic responsibilities but I had to ask
)
-Looking at the Summit Point thread I see threats of some snow. What are the event's weather contingencies?
If you can answer yes to the first three (well, maybe the first two) I'd be very interested in coming. I will PM you tomorrow to let you know if I can make it, and give you my phone number if necessary. Thanks a lot!

The updated forecast is saying 48 and sunny. To answer the question though, we run rain/snow/sleet/tsunami... you get the idea.

I will be in the #24 Ghettostyle H1 Civic somewhere near the #33 car.
