Hey everybody i need some advice or input from experience. I just moved to michigan from kali and want to do a jdm based car. What i mean is a car with only jdm parts or japan aftermarket parts. And the 2 cars that seem to have the most Japan product support is the 94-01 teg or 99-00 civic HB. I want to spend no more than 6500 for the car. The integra comes with a good motor platform, and i can do the jdm front end. But i like the EK because they are sweet and have alot of products, i mean to take a economy car and make it a performance car is tiiite to me.....so help me out!!! and give me some insight. Also with an EK can i put EX doors on it to get the power locks and windows, and then i can use the CTR door panels?? somebody told me u can door swap to do this.........thanks for the help

I may not know the book defenition, but i feel i have my own defenition that works for me...........i dont want to open up a can of worms, but im not gonna bite my tongue and not say" JDM", so too me its- Parts from the japenese version of the car and/or aftermarket parts that are originated from japan.........authentic products only!!! hope that clears up what i mean
umm... if you get an EK and put EX doors on it, you still won't have the dash harness or cabin harness with the wiring necessary for power windows/locks/mirrors/etc... The little electrical plugs coming out of the EX doors won't have anywhere to plug in.
Power stuff in an EK is nice, I love it in mine, but it was a bitch to do, and took a lot of time and hard work. Yes, CTR power door panels could be installed in place of EX/Si door panels. They are the same except different colors.

What is JDM?
if you got an ek9 you would already have a jdm car. now converting an ej to jdm is another story.......... tiiiIiiite!!!!!
if your so hard up for the JDM LOOK.. since your not in cali anymore I would think registration would be easier in any other state besides california. so go get a real JDM car and register it

Ok i have learned not to come to this page with an open mind because people want to slam me for asking a question.............nobody said i was "hard up for a jdm look" and if my terminology of honda chassis codes is not correct, just please educate me in a proper way, dont flame me. I simply want a car of this style no matter where im at kali or michigan....... I simply want some opinions without the disrespect, or insults........... And i rather stick to my subject not another issue.....
I have thought about importing a authentic CTR , then i woke up from the dream.......the car with all the importing fees is not worth it, plus i want the satisfaction of finding the parts and building the car myself.........but i still aprreciate the feedback

Hey my friend all I did was ask you a question - a valid question.
Sorry for not being "in the know" about your plans for the car.
Which car to start with, right?
Well at the risk of sounding like an ******* there's no way for us to tell you which car you would be happier in, right? Each car has its advantages.
I personally would go for the EK if given the choice between the two cars you listed.
Why?
Price. Weight.
I'm a cheap bastard, what can I say?
Really though I'd get a 1992 CX hatch.

Hey its coo, i didnt want people to think i was that clueless about the issue, or get away from the post, but thanks for the insight........im leaning more towards the EK because its lighter and cheaper like you said......... I saw that guy "siinsi" who did 13.4 in a full interior one all motor on street tires........i wanna do 12.8 or 12.9 full interior on street tires........so i think i can accomplish that with the EK easier.....but thanks for the input it is appreciated.
Yeah bro high 12's in a full interior'd all-motor EK/EJ chassis would be shitloads easier than in the DC chassis.
But in an EH/EG chassis I'm knocking on 12's with a stock ITR swap with i/h/cat/e. Mine is gutted, but the carpet, headliner, and plastic panels can't weigh too much, you know? Mine are all out for when I painted the car - I'll go full interior once I have enough money to buy all new parts from Honda.

Cams and tuning and I'll probably see high 12's with full interior for sure.

interesting, well i have considered getting an EG, but i already have a EJ, so i dont know about having 2 identical cars, i wanted something a lil different to play with this time.......my coupe im going to make my daily driver. I was going to finish that, but i dont know i want something lighter and more racier(if thats a word). I mean i do have a whole winter too think, but yes your EG does make for a strong argument of going with an EG
Between the 2, I would go for the EK but that's only because I am SOOOO tired of the DC2 body style. Everyone I know has one. Just think how many are out there, they were made since 94 without almost any change at all! Go for the EK dude and never look back. Oh, and I agree with b18c5-eh2, go for a EG (If i had a choice to get another car, i'd have a CX/VX too
)
)
I have a EK hatch and I love it!!!! The only disadvantage I've found is the lack of power windows/door locks and no moonroof. I haven't seen many of them except in magazines. You can find just about anything you want for them from gauge clusters to head lights all the way to CTR motors. You could put the integ motor in and still have money left over from the difference between the prices of the integ and the hatch. The nain thing is they are lighter.
get an 96+ hatch I have a black2kcivichatch and I love it, I really hate power windows and power locks. I like sunroofs but they are heavy and to me not worth it because of the leaking factor.
96+ hatches are super!
