i have a 94 civic cx manual. My speedo stopped working and odo and trip doesnt work. Ive replaced the vss all ready and the internal gear in the trans so they are both good. all fuses check out. and ive swapped in another cluster to check and same result. is there anything that ive missed or something that would cause it to not work anymore? im throwing CEL code 17 only. so the car drives like crap. this issue is driving me nuts. thanks

I literally just did it now. i have multiple vss units laying around. swapped the top portions and checked no difference. cut the connector and wired in a new one still same thing. everything ive done is now posted up.

 

Voltage and Ohm test (open/short) the three VSS connector wires.

 

forgot that one. did a voltage test yesterday and shows voltage when i turn the vss by hand. i was just reading and someone said put a meter in the cluster pigtail in the dash and make sure its getting current. but everything else works in my dash cluster. all lights and everything minus speedo and odo

 

i appreciate all the help. i was gona plug into the ecu and see what was happening but hondata and mac dont mix lol. last night i went threw everything. every wire, connection, fuse, even pulled the engine harness out and apart tracing wires. i also got a new vss unit. put everything back in today and took the car for a drive and speedo now works. drove around awhile city and highway and no issues or cels. i did run the new vss its own independent ground wire. not sure what the issue was but its is fixed. thanks again.
