Power steering removal d16z6
Hey HT , I have a 95 ex sedan with a d16z6 & I was wondering how difficult it would be to remove my power steering , note I don't really have a lot of experience installing or removing parts from my engine on my own . But I do have experience with hand tools , also if someone could guide me to a thread or post some diagrams & instructions on how to do it would be appreciated , I did look on here but couldn't find much on removing it . Thanks guys .

You can get a manual steering rack, it feels much better than a power steering rack converted to work without a pump.
you need to get some of the steering column, though.
just remember to tie the steering wheel down so you dont break your clock spring. And have fun trying to align the rack and the steering wheel, if you don't have a mind set that it'l be fun it'l just be a pain in your buns
I have both a power steering car and a manual steering car, guess which one actually feels nice without the pump.

My power steering pump is going out , so I'd rather just take it out then replace it . I don't mind not having it . Also I'm going to do a b series swap within the next few months so I plan on not having p/s anyways .
How do you know it's the pump?
My steering is pretty stiff and I'm not yet sure how to diagnose it. Fluid seems good. Tire pressure is good. I suspect lubrication and/or tie rods in my case. But it still could be the pump.

If you're going to be getting a non power steering rack you have to take the subframe out anyway. Its like 12 bolts total, ain't hard.
alternatively you can ignore it for now, and when you dual-cam-swap your vehicle you can get an Integra power steering rack which turns better than a civic's does and keep power steering.
this thread is sort of non-sensicle if you ask me, OP is as crazy as I am

Just remove the belt from the power steering pump. Now you have no need for fluid and a manual rack without doing anything major. 5 mins to remove belt. When you have the funds and the knowledge, fix it how YOU want it.
Yeah good luck reattaching it 100% straight with the steering wheel tony. It seems easy but its a little bit complicated. I eye balled it and ended up about an inch to the left of where it should have been.
you can probably do it if you measure it and **** like that, I was in a rush so I didnt care still don't lol

Maybe il just wait until I do the dohc swap , seems like a lot of hassle to do it & Within a few months it'll be out anyways . So thanks for the input anyways guys , greatly apreciated .
