why does the top of the steering wheel above airbag deform so bad


and is there a way to fix it?

I was wondering if soaking it in some kind of solution will bring it back to original shape since the vinyl dries and evaporates the oils or whatever is in it can it be soaked in any kind of vinyl restorer to get the shape back?
and what about the wheel material.
anyone rewrapped with fresh material ?

 

do a search there was a guy who sanded it down and painted it...it came out really good

 

damage is most likely a combination of oils from your hands and the sun's uv.

im talking about the part on top behind airbag
the foam and vinyl that always gets deformed and shrinks
