Swapping transmissions between 4th and 5th gen
Here's the information:
I have a 1999 Prelude in great condition but it's an automatic.
I got a deal on a beat up 1994 Prelude with a manual.
I want to put the manual transmission in the '99 and the automatic tiptronic in the '94 to keep it as a driveable car.
Is there any reason this wouldn't be a direct bolt on swap, are there OBD sensors or anything preventing this?
Thank you anyone who replies!

There are a thousand reasons why this is not a bolt on swap. Try searching for auto to manual swaps on preludes. It's extremely involved.
The tiptronic thing is going to be even harder.
Not that you can't do it. But you can't do it easily.

I'd say convert the 99 lude to manual if you really want to, then leave the 94 lude the way it is if you just want to drive it. Really a waste of time and money trying to turn a manual car into an automatic to keep its drivability.
Alright, thanks guys. So even with the '94 for parts like the transmission and center console, this wouldn't be an easy thing to do?
Who wants to trade a manual lude for a '99 auto?!
