i've just converted my honda civic center console from this



to this



but when i tried to install a single din here



it wont fit. the stereo hits the pillar holding up the dashboard at the back and wont go all the way in, i've seen pictures like this



and was wondering how they do it. is there a moded pillar version thats comes with this console or do i have to DIY it? because i dont see a way to play around with the pillars too much without weakening the hole dashboard

I have the double DIN version in my hatch, what pillars are you talking about?

Hrmm. My DIN looks like this, I didn't notice the pillars being in the way when I installed my pockets, but maybe my pockets just aren't as big as your deck.


I did google it and apparently some people also report having to bend back the pillars to install a large stereo. I'd just try to bend them out of the way if possible.

 

bending doesn't seem to be an option, as it works as a support pillar for the hole dashboard, the only thing i can think of is to remove extend and then bend it. but i was hoping there was a better option then that.

 

My rcas would hit the "pillars" so I just cut some of it out.
