Default difference in 'respray' and 'painted'

basically the title, is there any difference and what is it if there is. I see lots of posts online that say 'resprayed' and it seems to me that it would be easier to ust say painted, but i dunno

One sounds more badass than the other? "I got my car painted" is just meh, but "I got my car resprayed" is WOWOWOWOWOWOW did you say resprayed?! OMG!!

Wish I could tell you there is a real difference but people throw terminology around so loosely it's pointless to try and explain some things.

It's just like the term JDM. It use to mean something, but now it's just a synonym for something entirely different.

TL;DR

Same thing.
