Default coolant temp sensor problems.

Hello everyone, Ive been having a fustrating problem with this sensor. Heres the problem. The temp guage always goes to max hot as soon as key is on. I replaced the sensor since it was only 8 bucks and still have same problem. I can leave the sensor out of the head and hook up the yellow/green wire and my guage reads full cold with the sensor just hanging there. But as soon as I bolt the sensor to my head or even touch it to my head my guage reads full hot. Do I have grounding issues or wiring problems cuz it's just a single ground wire running the damn thing right. 90 crx d15b2

Sounds like a short in the wiring. Check the continuity of the wire from the sensor all the way to the gauge cluster.

Thanks for the quick reply. My yellow/green wire is 88.3 ohms with key off and is puttin out 12v with key on. I recently had to replace most of the lights in the guage cluster guess Ill start there.
