97 civic d16 speedo issues, auto trans issue
I bought a 97, d16y7, automatic civic to just fix and resale. I drove the car before I tore it all apart and no issues showed up besides an engine making lots of inappropriate sounds. Speedo worked, seemed to shift fine.
After I installed the replacement engine, a few problems have popped up. The engine is idling up and down, I've dealt with this problem before, im guessing I just have an air bubble in the coolant system. As the engine idles up and down, the speedo jumps up with the engine rpms, almost like a tach but it wraps all the way around, the odometer is also turning over. The issue is that it still does this even if the vss is unplugged. I triple checked all three grounds on the engine. The only trouble code that has come up is the crank fluctuation sensor, which im guessing is getting tripped by the goofy idle.
The other issue is that its really really laggy if you put it in Drive and step on the peddle.
I've had alot of hondas, replaced a few engines, transmissions, but never had one be this big of a pain in the ***. I'm not super familiar with autos either.
Anyone have any suggestions?

ckf is not caused by your idle issue. your idle is not from a bubble. you have some kind of wiring issue going on here, but with so many problems its hard to tell you where to start. CLEAN and check all of your grounds. clean the iacv. bleed the coolant.
"The devil is in the details." This phrase seems highly relevant here.
Describing everything about the swap itself will surely reveal the issue(s). The symptoms already point to wiring problems, so focus there.

It was a direct swap. D16y7 for a d16y7. I'll go over all my connections and make sure I don't have something corroded or gunked up.
Thanks for the help.
