How can I tell if my clutch master is out or my slave

I think you'll know when it is wet around your clutch master cylinder due to the clutch fluid

Both should be changed.
I had a clutch master go about 100 miles after my slave went.
its a pretty straightforward swap.

I concur. I also had my Master Cylinder go then my slave cylinder shortly after. Only after the slave went and I started asking WTF... I thought i just replaced this did they say both should have been replaced.
