H22 to JDM H23 swap question... Please!!!
Currently driving a 99 lude. Blew my automatic h22 vtec (distributor issues... go figure...) and bought a JDM H23 vtec to replace it. I had my mechanic do the swap but we're having some issues getting it started. What other parts need to come in and out the car? I'm keeping it automatic for the time being... I was told to go with a chipped ecu but I can't find one if my life depended on it... Therefore, I have been advised to stay with the H22 ecu and go with an AEM FIC and piggyback it. Will this really be my solution? Or do I need to mess with the crank sensor wires and wire it up to a 92 prelude s 2.3l distributor? Or do I need wire harnesses/jumpers? I'm really having one hell of a time here. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!
Yes but this swap is a pain in the butt... The issue we are having is that I'm being told to do one thing to the car and he is being told to do another... Plus we are swapping in a JDM engine...

Use a USDM oil pump. Put your coil on it. Swap the driver side engine mount. Use the stock H22 ECU. May need to shave down your transmission bracing. Use your H22 intake manifold and sensors and injectors.
You're swapping in a longblock. That's it. If you're mixing and matching things, you're making it too hard. Take all of your junk...and put it on the longblock. Done.
Also...this has been covered all over the net.

Just a thought....
Your distributor caused the engine to blow? You sure the engine is blown? That scenario doesn't sound correct at all.

"May need to shave down your transmission bracing."
yes you definately have to do that but not much. I used a Dremel and it shaved the aluminum pretty easily. The Transmission bracing has a side bolt that you dont use and you will have to shave the inner part to fit the Aluminum Trans bracing
