ITR for sale on Ebay got questions?
I found a 2000 ITR on Ebay with 22k on the odometer. Im sure alot of you have already seen it. Its black and has a JDM front on it and no wing also. The entire front end needs paint and so does the hatch. It is going for a little over 12k now and has just under a week left on bidding. What do you guys think of the car worth bidding on or no? Some of you ITR Experts in here take a look at it if you can. It is a bank repo and the place that is trying to get rid of it has over 50 pics of it on Ebay. I seriously thinking of bidding on it when time is almost up if the price stays down unless you all in here tell me otherwise. So someone please give me your thoughts on this ride? TIA
Ok I got one good reason why I shouldnt bid on this ITR anyone else? I was thinking the same thing. I thought that maybe I could get it for a fairly cheap price then sell it for more than I bought it for after I had it painted? But more than likely on this subject the negatives will out weigh the positives.
You don't want somebody elses problems....
Keep looking and try to find a nice stock one. I know of one in Michigan with only 2700miles on it. It's a black '01. He wants $23k.

Maybe it's because I am getting old but I just don't see myself buying something that needs some obvious work in the first place...even if it is to make some $.
It's a Repo'd car. Have you ever talked to someone who got their car repo'd? That guy/girl couldn't pay their car payments, you think they actually maintained it at all? no.

Trending Topics
there was a huge thread on this topic when that car was first listed on ebay.
if it stays near 13-14k it's a good deal and worth looking at.
though it has a fiberglass front end, all it needs is some paint.
you can't assume the car was not taken care of. since it only has 22k, all it needed so far was oil changes. it could have easily been a child's car and the parents couldn't make payments.
either way, check the previous thread.

it is an R, but childs toy is even worse than non maintained adult owned. Also, how was this car treated when the owner knew it was going to be repo'd? I can't believe you actually think this car is a good deal above 8-9k.
I personally wouldn't pay more than 5

hey gold, i think this is one of those examples of the "you get what you pay for" cliche. do you really think its worth $12-14k of your hard earned money to find out? it would be a different situation if you knew exactly what happened to this R, even if its in the condition that its in...but you don't.
the bad thing about ebay is you might send a deposit that you can lose if you change your mind, esp after seeing/driving the car.
i'm guessing you might spend around $5K in all just to bring it back to decency, body, paint, labor, parts...and by that time, you could have spent the cash on a stock well kept car to begin with...with no doubts. by chance, if 14K is your budget now, and you expect to fix an R back up, i think "spork" on this board is selling a mint one that only needs a new or rebuilt engine.
i think the only person who should pick up the ebay car is one who can thouroughly go over it and knows exactly what it needs and what they're doing...but even then, its still pricey for a "project".
good luck

Thanks for all the reply's so far guys. I thought alot of the same thoughts on this car as many of you but I just thought that I would get some second opinions. I really would like to find a 97-98 ITR that is bone stock for a really good price but sometimes that is hard to do when you dont have a big budget if you know what Im saying. Is the insurance on an ITR expensive never checked into it?
D00d...that car has been posted for sale again and again on ebay. No one seems to want it.
If you want an ITR, I'll be moving to NoVa in the next few days, and my ITR is for sale....see sig.
Cheese~

I'd really stay away from that car on ebay. Like I already said, there are many other perfect R's for sale for a bit more. The trouble you will have to go through to get that car back to stock (or at least looking NORMAL with original parts) is just not worth it, and you'll pay more money than you would if you just spend 18-19k on a R that is not salvaged and .... messed up.

Hey all, just registered with this site, and I just bought that ebay Type R. I was skeptical at first as well, but made the 3 1/2 hour trip to Pittsburgh to check it out and test drive it and everything. Other than the cheesy front end, everything was in great shape. The place had the engine checked out at an Acura dealer to make sure the head was original and all, and the block was definitely a B18C5. I've had enough experience with project cars so this isn't too big of deal for me, and it seems to be a good solid base. I'm going for the stock JDM front end, unless I can pick up a used USDM front end pretty cheap, so if anyone hears of one, let me know please. I should have the car all together within a month, as long as parts get here quick enough, and then next spring I'm gonna try to make it to some track events on the East Coast. Hope to meet up with some of you guys then.

Yeah, the bumper is fiberglass, the Mugen thing, and the fenders are plastic or something. I'm planning on swapping the bumper for a JDM stock piece, and possibly the fenders too, except that the steel ones are heavier. The carbon fiber hood isn't that good of quality, so I'll probably go with a steel one there too, and maybe keep the other for track days or something. Anyone know of anyone interested in the Mugen bumper? It's got a crappy primer job, but otherwise is in real good shape, no cracks or anything.
