Default b18b1 question before I waste my money

ok so i have a 2001 integra LS bone stock motor etc etc, I have found a 1994 parts car that I want to buy but here is my question, can I build that motor and then drop it right into my car? i know they are both technically "b18b1" but they have different valve covers, is there really any difference? any kind of guidance would be great! thanks

You can swap it but there are some small differences in OBD1 vs OBD2. The 94 won't have a CKF sensor by the crank but you can swap over oil pumps or bypass it. You'll have to swap over injectors, alternator and distributor from your car. Evap purge solenoids differ as well.OBD2 motor doesn't have the oil catch can on the back of the block. Both engines make the same power.

as long as you have the ECU from that parts car. Keep the wiring an ECU with the motor.

Rather than mixing and matching and swapping parts if you just build that 94 OBD1 motor and KEEP the wiring harness/ECU with it, then youll be fine.

That is unless you have emissions testing with an OBD2 port scanning which the OBD1 ECU won't connect, if thats not an issue you can swap the entire engine with wiring harness and plug and play into your Integra. Then you can use an OBD2-1 ECU adapter.

Usually you can just tell the inspection tech the car is swapped with and OBD1 system due to engine failure and then they will put it on the rollers instead of doing a port test, at least in NJ we can. We can also pay shops to pass us if you know the right ppl

^^^this^^^. it will make all the plugs fit so you dont have to use the other harness, and will allow you to use your obd2b ecu and pass inspection
