Bad ignition switch symptoms vs bad ICM.
My other car, 1999 Honda Accord has been stalling 3 straight days that I have driven the car. On all those days I drove the car few miles after the initial start. The car does not start immediately and I have to wait few minutes before it starts, but would stall again 10-to-15 seconds later. I can hear a click sound and all instrument lights turn off except the blinking green key light which blinks for few seconds then turns off.
I have read numerous posts and called Honda of America and my local dealer where I purchased another 2014 Accord. My local dealer states that any recall items will be replaced free in charge, but Honda of America states that after diagnosis any recall items only the parts would be covered and that I would have to pay for the diagnosis. I am planning on towing the car to my local dealer as the stalling is an accident waiting to happen.
Based on the symptoms, I have focused on three areas, ignition switch, ICM and the main relay.
I have read the symptoms for bad ignition switch, however, for ICM I was not able to find significant information about instrument panel lights going off. I would think with bad ICM that one would have tachometer and starting problems. I would appreciate any response in regards to ICM symptoms that are different from that of the ignition switch. Thank you.
