Looking for easiest way to drop B series with hoist?
I just finished my rebuild and I'm ready to drop my engine in with a hoist. Last time I did it with a few friends and I remember having much difficulty getting all the mounts to line up. This time I will be doing it alone.
So my question is what is the best way to do it as far as the mounts go. Which should I have already installed on the engine and which should I put on at a later point. And what mount should be installed first? Last time we got the T bracket (already on the engine) bolted onto the rear mount first, and then finagled the other 2 mounts which was a pain. Ive heard some people bolt the tranny mount first but I dont see how this can be beneficial.
Thanks!

What car is it going into? On my da tye easiest way is have the driver side mount on the car, rear mount bolted to the frame, t bracket bolted to the engine, front mount bolted to the transmission. Transmission mount lower plate on the trans, drop it all in and lower it enough to where you can slip the transmission mount in, then shimmy everything till it lines up and bolts in.
Dropped my engine and had it bolted in within 30 minutes last time I did it.

Best way is without the hoist
Seriously, get a hold of a jack that you can get enough lift on, put the engine/trans on a furniture dolly, and lower the car onto it.

Really depends on the car to give you an accurate answer because they really are all different and also depends on the engine. In any event, I swap my own engines by myself all the time. It really isn't that big of a deal.
Based on his description of the process, I'm pretty sure it's the typical 92-00 Civic/ 94-01 Integra with a b/d series engine.
I got a link for ya.
EDIT:
I see you said with a hoist!
It is easy either way
Install the rear T-bracket and rear engine mount.
Install driver side engine mount.
I make sure the trans is much lower than the driver side.
Drop it from above.
Even the motor out.
Attach rear mount to T bracket
Install trans mount and attach to chassis
Attach driver side mount to chassis.
Done. That's how I did it (iirc).
there's a thread on this somewhere....lemme look right quick!
