94 accord rocker molding removal
I just purchased a 94 accord 2 door that needs a rocker panel molding along with several other parts. I will be going to the local u pull it tomorrow and need to how to remove the molding without breaking the molding or the plastic clips that hold it on. Also will be removing the door side molding. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
Don't know about rocker panels but I have just done the doors. On a 94/95 the moldings are held on by three attachments and something like 3M tape along the edges. On the front door there is a screw at the rear of the door you can take off with the door open. But not on the rear door. Take off the door panels and the plastic rain guard. Squeeze the clips on the rear with a pair of pliers and push them out a little. This will start the molding coming off. Then take a knife and separate the adhesive. You will see what I mean. Tape is on both the top and bottom. When that is done, hold the molding away from the door and hit the rear with your hand. That will separate the molding from the front clip. You will need the clips, so try to save them. The front red ones can be removed but you can't remove them like the center ones because they are blind. The rear door has a clip instead of a screw at the rear. You remove it just like the center one. No problem, really. When you replace them, scrape the old adhesive from the moldings and replace it with 1/4" 3M tape. Leave a piece of the red backing hanging out, clip the molding on, then pull the red backing off.
96/97 are different. They have a lot more clips so they won't interchange with the earlier doors.
But you said two door. So forget the part about the rear. It is for anyone else who might read this.

Thanks Fitz, I went and got them today. You are right about the door moldings. I saved all the door molding clips except for the front one. On the rocker molding I learned that if you remove the front mud flap and remove all the push in clips from underneath you can slide the molding forward and it comes off the clips. Then if you twist the clips they can be removed easily. A piece of cake.
