Strange AC problem...
I have a 2000 Honda Accord. I have owned it for 4 years. So far everything has been fine, except one thing. The AC stops working ONLY when the car is idle. As soon as I come to a stop light, or stop in traffic, the air starts to get warm....then hot. Also, this only happens when it is over 85 degrees out. I will mention that the compressor is less than 2 years old. Thanks for any help!
could it be that your AC doesn't manually turn on your fans? That would make sense. The condenser needs air flow to work. At a stop you're no longer providing that and the fans should be on.
That definitely seems possible, and makes sense. Do you think it is designed to do that or a malfunction?

This is usually an airflow issue. When theres not enough airflow(IE at dile and the condenser fan isnt working), the pressure gets too high(Because the heat isnt being removed), and the high pressure switch takes out the system. Then when you start moving, and the natural movement of the car removes the heat...then the pressure normalize, and the system works proper.
1. Check if fans are on and air does pass through Condenser
2. If your RPM is below certain limit ECU turns compresser Off
3. Is your refrigent to its normal pressure?
4. Could be weak compressor or bad TXV value which allows gas at high pressures only.
