Custom pistons or shelf pistons? lsv or b20?

 

i wanna say they are shelf. but there was a job number on the side of the box so i have no idea.

What is the P to W clearance set to?? How much power?

 

I'm sure he has no idea on power yet. It's not even assembled yet.

 

im personally shooting for 475-500(thats why i made a thread on gaping the rings) but im not sure on what the customer wants. im assuming the same because this is only the block ive shown you guys.
the customer is swinging by this week to pick up the head to have it pnp'd....

 

Well P to W needs to be set BEFORE assembly. The block looks like it's already been to the machine shop. That's why I'm asking. Set piston to wall 1st THEN gap the rings. You have to have a power goal before assembly to obtain the respectable tolerances. The more power you make, the bigger your clearances need to be.

Anyway 500 hp?? .0035-.004 will probably suffice.

 

but i thought it would have to be remachined again if the p2w wasnt right?? im pretty sure that was already done but ill check tomorrow with my shop to make sure.



on the other hand the guys at arias said its ok to run .021(which it already was or grind up to .022 which i might do) on the top ring and 18-20 on the 2nd ring. and to have the oil ring facing up like a W instead of an M look.
