Where to find F22B engines?
Hey Guys,
Just curious if anyone knows of a good place to grab rebuilt long blocks?
My 'new to me' 97 Accord LX sedan is burning oil like crazy. I added the lucas oil treatment and thicket oil but it still burns hard. I am guessing it's from the piston rings more so than the valve seals, etc.
I found a seller on eBay that does them for 1400 without a core, 1200 with Core. Hoping to find something a bit less expensive if possible.

Locally there are a few places that sell F22B1 and B2 engines for ~$800 shipped.
Have you done a compression check? This would be the best way to verify if it is a ring issue, rather than a valve seal issue.

I didn't realize leaky piston rings would drop compression - i keep learning ! Thanks for the tip, i'll be doing that soon. Would you mind messaging me regarding the 800 shipped sellers? I am incentral CT
Japan Engine in San Leandro sells JDM used long blocks and rebuilt engines.
94-95 B1/B2 are 750
96-97 B1/B2 are 800.

Attarco located in Richmond and Sacramento CA.

They seem to be more swap orientated, not sure on pricing.

I got my engine swap from Attarco. I would recommend them however I'm not sure if they would ship to CT. I would suggest "h motors online". Keep in mind you need the sohc non vtec f22b unless you choose to upgrade to the sohc vtec which would be what i would do at the least. Then you just need an ecu and to add the two vtec wires.
For the money look into swapping in an f23a. You will have to get a Vtec ECU and wire the vtec, but it is a 20 hp upgrade. Another plus...JDM units are half the cost of a JDM F22b2.

Checking with my friends who are more mechanically inclined to see if they have tools to do a compression test. If it's the head i'd be quite happy!
In the meantime, I added Lucas Oil Treatment and went with a thicker oil for now to slow down the leaks/burning. noticably less smoke coming out when reving and driving but still quite a bit

I see f22b2's in the junkyard all the time. Many times with snapped timing belts. As long as the block is good(Do compression test), then get your head rebuilt(If needed), with new valves seals, slap on a new head gasket, timing belt and water pump. Voila! I know down here you can pick them up for $249ish..with a 30 day warranty. If you have more time than money, might be somethign to look into.
Usually an easy way to figure out where the oil blow-by is from is when the exhaust smokes. At startup and under load it smokes, umbrella valve seals. Constantly smokes, rings.
