6th Gen Accord JDM H22A Swap questions.
Hi everyone I'm planning out the swap of a JDM H22A into my 2002 Accord Ex 5 speed. It currently has the ULEV F23A engine which has a dead cylinder 0 compression and rather than spend time removing the head and having the valves redone to get back the 150 hp it had from the factory I'd like to install the JDM H22 I am going to be purchasing an OBD 2 version and I plan to tear it down to replace the front and rear main seals, water pump, oil pump, and timing system. I plan to use the KSTUNED balance shaft eliminator kit as well as their manual timing belt tensioner. I may replace the head gasket and install head studs as well as new cam seals while I'm at it depending on condition. I'll of coarse set proper valve lash. So now for the questions as I'm going to be doing the KSTUNED balance shaft eliminator kit with the new oil pump can I simply install new sensors into the oil pump and buy a used US spec distributor in order to eliminate the need to hack the JDM distributor and my engine harness to get the ECU the signals from the CPS and TDC or am I missing something. I want to keep the wiring as close to stick as possible mainly do to the New England corrosion factor. DOES THE JDM H22 ECU use a downstream O2 sensor? If not can I simply find the input terminals on the ECU harness in my car and de-pin them? Anything I'm missing please feel free to let me know. I'm a very good technician but new to Hondas so any info is appreciated. Oh and will the JDM engine with its higher compression ration run happily on US super unleaded pump gas 93 octane?
So here's the progress so far the old F23a is out and the new to me h22a type s is here just awaiting the Rywire harness now. While I wait I'm cleaning up the engine bay repainting it and also refreshing the suspension and brakes pics and a write up will be coming soon
