First and Foremost What is a exhaust resonator where is it located and what does it do?]
next im looking to replace it because i was trying to get a better sound from my accord (98 accord 2.3 have kn intake and N1 catback exhaust) does it help performance wise also? any help would be appreciated

 

The resonator is to remove drone/rasp from an exhaust. It's all personal preference on if you'd like the sound if you remove it. It looks like honey comb walls in the resonator - but has a straight through design. I don't see a necessity in removing it. You'd see better gains and better sound doing header/high flow cat if you ask me..

 

i got dc header and straight pipe 2.25 back to muffler i use a dc stealth it sounds really nice and clean deep. i have had the car for a while and had different combinations and this is best one so far. all that n1 stuff is junk to me and doesnt last. hit up pepboys before the 30th of month the got 25% off web order, place online pickup same day in store. I have had cats and resonators i just got tired of the **** giving out on me or gets a hole from scraping on speedbumps so i went str8 pipe with 02 bung.

 

Its that big ole glass pack that is part of your mid-pipe. It quells that horrid drone you would normally have at cruise.
Meh, I would go no larger than 2.5" exhaust, maintain the resonator(in the appropriate size) and tune the sound with a muffler.

Nothing more annoying than that drone at cruise.
