Default Planning to buy a used GS-R this weekend. Got tips?

It's a '97 being sold at a dealership for $12,215 @ 95,000 mi. The car was leased and has had some service done on it, I just don't know what. Valve adjustments and changing the timing belt/water pump won't be a big deal since I work at a shop now, but do you think it's realistic to get the price down to $11-11,500?

yea homie thats rape. i have one for sale with less miles. its a 96 four door white gsR with 87k it has i/h/e and a stage 1 clutch. well i dont know if you want a four door. 12,000 is way too much for that one your looking at. even 11,000 is way to high with that many miles. if your interested e mail me. we ll work something out. babyfaceplayboy@aol.com
and im like thirty minutes from you too.

To be fair though, this cat is in CA where everything honda is jacked up. Compare w/ prices in your area to get an idea of the going rates for GS-R's...But definately try to talk them down!!

any dealer is gonna rip u off. figure that they r gonna jack the price up 2-3000. so if they want 12000, then its worth 9-10000. unless u really want this car i would look elsewhere if they dont come down on the price.

dont but anything from a dealer ever! to much cash down the toilet. private sale is way better and cheaper. if in doubt get an inspection done. only costs $45 at most places

You live in the bay area, so that sounds about right but get it down like a $1k or $2k. GSR are still sell very easily in the bay area and people over pay for them.

that sounds about right to me. here in NJ where GSR's are rare as hell, i bought my 95 with 55k original miles with 1 adult owner for 10k from a dealership, black with black leather. it was in perfect condition too. the only other gsr's i could find (i searched for 4 months) were owned by a stupid kid who beat the **** out of the car, and they all had over 100k miles, were still goin for 8-9 grand.

Ripoff

I got my 97 GSR with 50k on it from a DEALER for 11.5k. That was a year ago.

Keep looking man. I looked for 3 months before I finally found my car. If you hurry and buy a car you will regret it. Be patient and you'll get a great car.
