Default 2000 Honda Civic White smoke engine

HELP!!!

I have a 2000 Honda Civic, took the car out for a short drive(20 mins or so) and it started having white smoke and the temp gauge was almost in red. So I turned the car off and let it cool. Then turned the car back on, I last about 5 mins before it got bad again. I put some coolant in and tried to go again. That did not help, I made it about 50 feet.

it is White smoke, coming from around the engine. It has no smell that I noticed.

Any Ideas?

Sounds like leaking headgasket. What does the oil look like on the dipstick? Milky?

White smoke and overheating is a blown head gasket. Can't think of anything else it could be.

Maybe a busted hose? Usually don't the headgasket issues push smoke out of the exhaust?

This happened to me and I had a hose break in a spot that was very difficult to find. Fill up the radiator to the top and see if you can hear/spot any leaks. Look for dripping under the car as you fill up. I had a hose break from the bottom and I couldn't see the leak from above.

I either read OP's post wrong or he edited it. Yeah, white steam around the engine area is most likely a busted hose somewhere or maybe the radiator cap losing pressure.
