Icon2 2001 V6 Honda Accord Struggling to Switch Gears • Transmission on the way out?

Hey all,

I have a 2001 Honda Accord, V6. It has 201,XXX miles on it.

Recently, while on the highway, my Accord's RPM have skyrocketed as I attempt to accelerate. Almost 4,000rpm before even reaching 60mph.

After switching to the slow lane, I've been dropping my car a few gears, and putting it back into D4 (Auto). This usually solves the problem.

The most recent time this happened, the car seemed to be shaking quite a bit. I had to pull over, and restart to get it back to normal.

Any idea what this could mean? My father thinks that the Transmission is on the way out, but he suggested that I post on here to get a second opinion.

Thanks in advance!

Is the check engine light coming on? D4 light flashing?
Beg/Borrow/Steal a OBDII scanner and see if there are any stored codes.
