Default Track car ready 223whp b16a2

Shopcar is soon ready for tracking. thought some may like the build.
It is classified/licenced as a rallycar and have been modified since.

The engine is a B16a2 built with shelf parts, nothing special about them.
Head is ported and flowed at our shop.
Dynoed 223whp SAE 4 years ago,
Did a redyno couple a days ago 119*F intake temp (really HOT day)
It did around 210whp on a diff dyno DIN corrected, still okay for a stock geometry B16.
Now the gear case has been fitted with strait cut gears and a Wery high final drive / short gearing

The car got proflex adjustable suspension, uniballs in the front, and rear, ASR hollow anti roll bar all ends are adjustable.

Ill put up some dyno video and trackvideos later this season.

You guys sure do have generous dynos over seas. Strap that on to the rollers over here and you're 180 range.

Have fun

So you tell me its the dynos fault that the engine produce more than 200whp?
haha, it is not THAT impossible, the engine baseline before rebuild was 120whp just to know what the dyno read on a stock engine.

Stock type R engine 11.1 compression read between 141-162whp still think numbers is high?

The head is the "secret" I know I have the build thread of the engine somewhere on the board, I buildt the engine back in 2010 working for another workshop, and I bought the engine back 4 years later

When we do a compression test, the gauge read 330+psi

If I remember correct I meashured the static compression to be in the 13,5:1 area when the engine was built.

Clean Rice: if you look closely at the tq-curve and numbers you will see that it is actually not a high-reading dyno at all.

In fact it is a lot lower reading than many popular US dynos like churces pack.

The TQ here is below 110 wheel ft lbs almost everywhere, with a peak of about 128, which from what I have seen is about the same, or lower than what is often seen from highly tuned 1600cc engines on dynojets.

The "secret" here is that he somehow managed to make every aspect of the engine work extremely well between 7500 and 9500 (even with such simple parts), which results in the high HP numbers.

Yeah that torque curve looks almost like a horsepower curve. B16s always surprise me.

Yeah I've been around for more then 10 yrs in Hondas and I've never seen a b16 without a bigger displacement then 82mm go over 200whp. Sorry Charlie not without major work

But nice car for the track good luck

Me neither I have 12 years working with this engines on a daily basis.
The Head work is so important to produce over 200whp, the rest of the parts are adjusted shelf parts.

Thank you.

That is correct, the funny part is that the real difference of this motor and work done to it compared to others are not even listed.

Thanks for trying to explain the "haters" not willing to believe that this is far from impossible if you know a little more than basic engine work and fluid dynamics.

Omniman did a B16 that had 200+whp back in 2005 or 2006 with OEM parts. Why is it unreasonable with today's advances in knowledge and equipment to be able to get even more? This is why the N/A section sucks; every time someone makes "progress" people light the torches and get out the pitch forks.

Ill stand by your words sir.
This engine is somewhat 4 years later than Omni's build, and 4 years older than today.
It has been beaten 4 years at track before I got to buy my customers engine back

Today with a bigger budget and the new "knowledge" I would say another 30-40hp could be added without gaining cc, but maybe change the geometry of the engine to slow the pistonspeed down, and try watever it takes to reduce the friction loss of the engine. A lot of power is lost to friction and heat when pistonspeed reaches maximum velocity.
We have developed such engine at the drawingboard just to try to calculate what is possible.

Taking calculations of how to do such build, but may never build it becouse adding displacement would easy add a LOT more tq and hp to such project, leaving the 1600cc in the dust.
If we did such build sometime it would only be for "***** ang giggels." and I belive many shops from the US could do this also, if they just wanted to show the public what they could do.

*Ooops flamesuit on*
