New owner of 1991 Civic SI, first build/mod
The name is Zach. I am 28 years old, married, 2 kids. 6 years active duty air force, and 2 years and counting army national guard. Intro out of the way.
Just purchased a 1991 Honda Civic SI, looking to fix it up. Engine swap hopefully in the next year. Going to be my daily driver. So I want to put in quality parts, time, and effort. Won't be moding ridiculisely with turbos or anything.
Just looking to upgrade suspension, brakes, radiator, wheels/rims, fix dents/rust, sound system, exhaust, and future engine swap that will include an upgraded intake.
Changing- head gasket, water pump and timing belt, thermostat
Love for any input or suggestions. For parts I am looking best bang for buck

Welcome to honda tech, in the vehicle specific forums you'll find a really good sticky of FAQ's for the 4th Gen civic, also the search function on here is really good at digging up lots of helpful threads. I have owned the same 91 civic for about 10 years now and have done it all from engine swap, turbo, suspension, brakes etc. This site has been a great resource

What suspension did you go with?
Any problems with rust and if so what did you do? Mine has rust not horrible but it's there. I am going to fix it myself with the help of a more experienced buddy

I have had a few suspension setups over the years, my favorite is the current setup of ground control coilovers, they are koni yellow shocks with GC extended top hats and springs. Couldn't be happier. Also replaced all factory bushings with Energy or Prothane bushings. I have a Progress Suspension camber kit as well as some other bits and pieces.
I've been lucky and my car has no rust, it was factory undercoated and must ahve been well looked after by the previous owners. I have replaced quarter panels on other cars before, it's not too bad but paint and bodywork can get expensive in a hurry.
I did a OBD0 B16a swap initially, which was super simple and pretty cheap. I then eventually did an OBD1 conversion and built the engine for boost and added a turbo. Been boosted for 7 years now and going strong, just finished a huge amount of upgrades and will probably start a build thread to show what I've done as soon as I finish the wiring.

It will not turn out as nice as a shop but it will be mine. Just more concerned about getting rid of the rust. Hopefully figure out some way to keep it from coming back for along time.
I have looked at the koni yellows and strs. Just trying to figure out my price point.
Ballpark how much you have dropped on your civic?
