Default Why are they Priced like this?

I have been looking at H23 Motors and came across the Rare JDM Blue top Vtec and here it is!

But here is the normal DOHC non vtec H23

Why, if the Blue top is supposedly better, why is it priced at a lower rate?

None of us here would know that, but generally speaking the H23A should be more expensive though.

Contact the company and make sure the pricing is legit. Seems a bit weird.

The best idea that I can come up with, would be that they price the blue top lower as it is not a "drop in" engine for anyone.
It takes more work to install and run than a standard H23 or H22, which makes it a less desirable engine to most folks. Not saying a ton, but more, which when doing a fast swap, isn't something most people want.
It is less well known also, but that is changing in recent years, since the blue top used to be a rare unicorn of an engine, and now everyone has them available.

You get what you pay for, I paid $1100 for mine. Where you live and how big of a demand for them in that region can effect price. Even if they are cheap far away after shipping who knows..?

The "description" thats written in "blue" at the bottom describes the $999 engine as a JDM "H22A" non vtec, maybe they made a mistake somewhere

Trust me, the H23A Blue Top is better. Short answer to the price issue is simple supply and demand. Not as many people know about their potential so they are not in as high demand. The truth is they are one of the most responsive to bolt-ons of all Honda 4 cylinder's. The H23A Blue top even puts down better numbers than the H22 TypeS and costs way less (assuming they each have the same I/H/E). This is because 1) they have a 95mm stroke, have 10.6.1 compression (same as JDM H22 except type S), have JDM H22 cams, and they were very under-tuned and restricted from the factory. I think they are rated at around 196-200 bhp at 6800 RPM. That doesn't sound as appealing as the EuroR/Type S H22 that is rated at 220 BHP at 7200 RPM. But here is the deal, with quality bolt-ons and a tune my stock block H23A Bluetop made an estimated excess of just over 250 BHP (218 WHP x 1.15{drive train loss}= 250.7 ). That is a 50 BHP increase (25% over stock) from just removing the balances hafts, I/H/E and tune. They are very strong engines, and I paid less than $1000 for each one with shipping included, so that price is not suspicious at all.
