Icon3 New Here..

Hi I am new.

I have joined up as my car is concerning me and I really need some expert advice.

I have a Honda Civic Type R GT 07 plate.

I sent it in for new pads and discs the other week and now I have the following issues;

Engine Check light is permanently on.
VSA light is permanently on.
Ve-tech has stopped working along with my cruise control.

My garage says its because I need a new wheel bearing. I honestly am not sure if they know what they're talking about, please could someone help me, as I feel my car is getting run down with all these faults...should I take it to a specialist place instead?

Thanks for reading...if you have got this far.

when driving it do you hear a roaring noise?

if not, your wheel bearing isnt the problem. my suggestion to you, unless you have someone you know/trust really well, take it by a honda dealership.

on the 007..

Hi - Thanks for replying.

It makes a rumbling noise when I turn left, i suspected it to be a wheel bearing a while ago when it started.

Would a wheel bearing fault affect the VSA, Cruise Control and Vetech problem?

Thanks

no problem..

if its only making a noise when youre turning, it might be a cv joint or axle that needs attention, but neither that nor the wheel bearing should cause a check engine light or affect cruise control in any way. odds are, the check engine light is causing the car not to cross-over into vtec because it has defaulted the vehicle into limp mode, although it could be low on oil, even if the light hasnt come on, it could still be 1/2 a quart to quart low which wont build the oil pressure required to engage vtec. i dont know where exactly you are, so i cant say if i have heard of anyone in your area that could help..

Turn off the radio and anything making noise.

With the windows up try to hear if the suspected wheel is making a humming wobbling sound as your driving. Usually easier to notice if at Highway speed.

Try to figure out which wheel it is coming from.

CV Axles usually making a clicking noise when they are going out.

But as stated above. Neither of those parts would throw a CEL

Ok thank you for your help.

I honestly believe all this started when the garage messed about with it, I don't think they knew what they were doing and have upset allsorts.

This all started with a new starter motor, then battery, then brakes...now all this!

So p1ssed off...I will find a Honda Dealer.

Thank you again.

It was the timing chain...costing us £900 to be repaired with Honda.

it's only done 56000 miles...even the Honda Technician was puzzled.

im out of the loop on this aspect...i know i *could* find out the answer if i were so inclined, but that sounds too much like work lol..

youve piqued my curiosity talking about how much it cost you in pounds but describing how much youve used the vehicle by miles...you live in britain or something?

to me it sounds like they could have broken a speed sensor on one of the front wheels. im honestly not 100% if they have the speed sensor on the knuckle, i just know ive ran into problems like this on other cars. and that would throw a cel light and will stop cruise control from working. best bet, go to your local part store they will scan your cel light for free, and that will help as well, but in my opinion it does sound like a speed sensor or as stated above a wheel bearing starting to go bad
