ECU problem with 97 Accord LX?
Hey guys, I just picked up a 97 accord lx 5spd that has seen better days. I'd like to say I got a deal but I've noticed weird issues. It will usually start right up but at random it will shut off. And when you try to turn it back on it sounds like it will start and then just dies..
Scanned the ecu for codes and discovered it's got an o2 sensor error and a vtec solenoid error. We also noticed some difficulty in scanning as a Honda ecu. 'Generic' worked.. I also noticed after that - the kid I bought it from apparently disconnected the check engine light and cleared the codes before I got the car...
Anyways, I did some research and it looks like the EX had a 2.2L vtec engine. The ecu is supposed to be 37820-P0J-L02 based on the Honda Dealer's parts dept near me. The current ecu in it is 37820-P0H-L02... Is it possible this could be the cause? Any insight is appreciated !

It shouldn't die with that ecu but it will throw a code for the vtec pressure switch and solenoid since you don't have those hooked up on that non vtec engine. Get the correct ecu and see if that fixes it though.
