Default LSiNtegraDB7's EJ8 Build: Aloha, the Civic EX from Hawaii!

Hey guys, I'm going to merge a few of my threads from ClubCivic into one build thread on here so bear with me.

Just picked up this 1996 Honda Civic EX in May. Name's Ryan, I live in Maryland, and while on vacation in Ocean City I found this Civic for sale at a small dealer. Bone stock, only 3 owners. I happened to notice that the second owner lived in Hawaii for 17 years, and the Civic even had the Hawaii inspection sticker on the back. (Hence my username). Thought that was pretty cool! Only has 133,000 miles.

Now I used to be frequent on Club Integra, my old DB7 won 2010 4DR Ride of the Year. http://www.clubintegra.com/board/showthread.php?t=73150

I've had a slew of cars over the past few years but I've been trying to find something stock and clean that I can make my own again. I messed around with some 300ZXs and 240SXs but I've always come back to Honda.

So currently my plans are to do some maintenance, then most likely coilovers and wheels to start off.

Here's some pics from when I bought her; I have to take new ones though because I spent 5 hours washing, clay barring, polishing, and waxing her yesterday haha.

To start things off, after doing some cleaning of the bay I noticed my stock exhaust manifold was cracked, and learned this was common. I was doing some reading and saw how the 99-00 D16Y8 came with a tubular steel header from the factory, so I set out to the junkyard to grab one.

I found a few '99 EXs, and sure enough one still had the header. I spent about an hour pulling it though because I had no way of jacking the car up, so I had to remove the AC condenser, alternator, etc to pull it from the top. Long story short, I paid $36, which $9 of which was the o2 sensor I meant to remove before paying haha.

Overall its in good shape, somewhat rusty, so yesterday I wire-brushed it and layed a few coats of some high temp flat black paint down. Much cleaner now.

Second, I picked up an AEM short ram from a friend for $20. It was pretty beat and I still need a filter. In the mean time I decided to try out some wrinkle black VHT paint. Overall turned out nice. I sanded the intake with 600 grit wet, then layed down 3 heavy coats. Then it sat for 2 days and I finished by baking it in the oven for about 20 minutes. I haven't decided if I want to use it or just sell it for profit and get a PasswordJDM intake like I had on my first Integra.

Hey guys, just wanted to bring you up to speed on Aloha. I picked up an A'PEXi N1 catback off Honda-Tech for $150. Came off an 01 GSR 4DR Integra so its a perfect fit. (4DR Integras share the same exhaust as us). Also had an Invidia test pipe laying around from my old Integra and that ended up fitting perfectly as well. In addition to that I threw in some Energy Suspension shifter bushings.

Next week I hope to install that 99-00 OEM Steel header I picked up in my last thread to complement my new exhaust.

On to the pics!
