finally decided what im getting!
ok, my starting off budget was around $7500-8000. for that, i could have gotten a 99ek with money left over for some rotas or something. Then i thought, i could get an EG hatch, and immediatly get a type r. I was like woah, but then its 10 years old and stuff. So i was kinda iffy. I finally decided today, after drooling about how nice Tom's car looks. Fast too. So i will have all the money in a month, so beginning of december, I should by the hatch, order itr motor from osakamotors, and get it installed right then. I have a question though, what model hatches should i look for? i heard some are harder to swap because of harness?
Also, what colors came in what years. my opinion... i don't like that funky green color, thats just me. the only colors i want.. in order black/white/red/dark blue color ( not the light blue).
also, a grey maybe? i dont know if they came in that color.
Let me know what you think.

Check your yellow pages for a company called Japan Direct under automobile. They sell used engines directly from Japan. Their ad claims 6 mo-5 yr warranties and free delivery. website is usedengines.com and # is 888-518-7341 Ive never dealt with them or know someone who has but I quoted for a duece duece last year for a reasonable price, but no $$. It wouldnt hurt to look into it. Good Luck meng.....
anyone one else want to answer my questions? what EG, EH-2 , EH-3. and the questions i had above about the colors they came in, in certain years

Eg is slang for any 1992-1995 Civic.
EH2 is the correct chassis code for any 1992-1995 non-Si hatchback.
EH3 is the correct chassis code for any 1992-1995 Si hatch.
As far as which model to look for, check out the weight thread I have somewhere in here in this forum.
I'd say 1992-1993 CX/VX. Not 1994-1995 because they are heavier for having dual airbags and the prices and insurance will be more expensive.
If you like side moldings than get the DX hatch.
Find that weight thread - it will answer a LOT of Q's you might have.
Thanks for the kind words about my car

Oh yeah, colors:
Black was only on the Si regardless of what any ads might say. Many people call the dark grey (Phantom Grey Pearl) black but it isn't. If you find a black non-Si hatch then it was painted.
Dark blue (Harvard Blue Pearl) was a DX-only color. I'd buy a DX in that color if I could find one. That's my favorite O.E color for the 1992-1995 hatch.
Red was on all trims, as was Tahitian (light teal) green if i'm not mistaken.
Side note:
Interior colors go like this:
Black - all Si hatches, Milano Red, Tahitian Green, Captiva Blue, Paradise Ble/Green (dark teal)
Light grey - Phantom Grey Pearl, Harvard Blue
<FONT COLOR="blue">BLUE</FONT> - Any white non-Si hatch
Hope that helps some.

Also SI has sunroof if you're interested in that, but they're the hardest to find.
About your wiring question, all 92-95 hatchs were pre-wired for VTEC, if that's what you're asking.

All 1993-1995 Si and VX hatches are also pre-wired for VTEC. CX and DX are not.

Why aren't the 93-95 non VTEC ones not pre-wired for VTEC?
because in 92 the eh2 civic first came out in united states, and they were too lazy to take the wiring out of them. then the next years they went ahead and took them out. imo

1994 cx-2108
Id like to think of my passengers safety as being worth more than 14lbs. Thats my personal opinion.
Any CX or VX is a
IMO.I was striving to get a 92 for the VTEC ready harness, however, i ended up with a 1994 CX (vx rims option) and the passenger side airbag. When my GF sits shot gun, im happy that she is also protected in the tin can i call my civic.
edit: im not too sure about your area, but when i was looking for an 'eg' i came across alot of SI hatchbacks. Very few VX or CXs
