Accord 96 140K Harsh shifts, erratic acceleration, hard gas pedal
Hi,
I recently bought an accord 96 with 140k miles on. Since i have bought it i have noticed that all the shifts 1-2-3-4 and 4-3-2-1 are hard and the car gives me jerks. Also the acceleration is erratic during it specially at low gear (1 and 2). My gas pedal for weird reason is very hard to press (compared to my friend's old camry). Earlier my acceleration at first gear was really bad so i opened up and cleaned the throttle body which has definitely improved the initial acceleration and power but i still get the jerks during gear changes (all of them). My transmission fluid is very clean and it is ATF-Z1. What do you guys recommend i should check? There are no engine/error codes and it drives very well once its done with all the gear changes (on the highway)
Thanks

Unhook the throttle cable from the throttle body, and from the transmisison. Check both cables slide easily inside their housings.
Verify the freedom of movement for the throttle body shaft, and the automatic throttle valve lever on the transmission case.
If no binding, reinstall the throttle body cable and throttle valve cable.
Check your pedal throttle cable is not binding up, and is properly adjusted, no slack, but no tension when the throttle is closed.
Check the transmission throttle cable is not binding up, and is properly adjusted, no slack and no tension with the throttle closed.
Both can be adjusted with a 12mm open end wrench, use two for easier/quicker adjustment.
And make sure there is nothing stuck under the pedal, like a floor mat.
If the Camry has drive by wire, the throttle will be very light compared to a cable throttle.
