Transmmison problem only when hot
My car is an 02 Accord SE, 4 cycl, auto with 45,700 miles on it. All service is up to date. When the car is cold it shifts fine. I can use the car, drive on the highway and come off it and again its still fine. Yesterday I had the AC on, some traffic drove home from work (16 miles) and I was getting delayed shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. I had this problem a few weeks ago during a hot spell and thinking back I had the AC on at that time but since then its been fine.
Transmission was serviced (single dump and fill) 10,000 miles ago.
There are no CEL lights and the D4 does not blink.
Once in overdrive its fine
When the it starts acting up, it will also make a slight noise going into reverse and drive.
The car according to the temp gauge is right in the middle.
Since this seems to be heat related as far as I can see, I'm plaining on doing a double dump and fill (yes I only use Honda fluid), but I'm thinking there might be a problem with the Solenoid or the wiring. Since it fails when the engine bay gets real hot when the AC's on, I'm think maybe a wiring issue.
Any thoughts?

Is there a difference in traffic when going to work vs when going home?
Some 98-02 ATs are known to have a low flow through the cooler issue below 1500rpm. It is a fault in the pressure regulator valve, if stuck in traffic the shifting is erratic it may be due to this fault which will also eventually overheat and destroy the transmission.

Mike, the problem seems to be heat related. It's only when I'm in stop and go traffic with the ac on. Otherwise it's fine. It's so weird that it just started, last year there were no problems. I'm changing the fluid tomorrow, any other suggestions would be appreciated.
cant hurt to check the solenoids on the trans also
there are two of them
videos are available on youtube.com
search for honda trans solenoid
u can use either a multimeter or jumper cables(it is an electronic solenoid)
if bad, replace. also test the new ones

But when there is a problem it is due to stop and go?
If yes have the transmission fluid flow through the cooler checked.

Sean was the first person to recognize that after warm up, when the vehicle would come to a stop, the cooler flow would drop to zero. The flow would resume when the idle was raised above 1200 RPM. Most importantly, he noticed that the temperature of the oil exiting the converter would increase dramatically when the cooler flow dropped to a certain level. Sean's observations lead to the conclusion that the heat in the converter was caused by the clutch dragging on the cover during periods of low TCC charge (release) oil flow and not as a result of slipping during TCC apply, as previously thought. But why was the low flow happening? This became easier to understand when a pressure gauge was added and transmission line pressure was monitored at the same time as cooler flow. If the line pressure dropped at the same time as the cooler flow was decreasing, you would be looking for conditions such as low fluid level, severely worn valve bores or possibly a severely worn pump. But, since the line pressure remained high when the flow rate decreased, an out-of-position PR valve was more likely the cause of poor cooler flow.
Mike thats exactly whats happening. Stop and go will give me a hard or delayed shift once in a while, turn the AC on and now there are serious problems. As of now there are no codes and without my AC on it seems to be fine and the fluid is nice and pink.
Thanks for reading material.....So basiclly I need a rebuild at 45k. Nice.

Update: I did a double dump and refill with fresh Honda fluid and its almost like new. When hot there is an occasional hard shift but for the most part it seems fine.
