Default F22 mini me swap

Hey guys i was wondering if you could help me out with a mini me swap for my F22B2 in my 97 accord. I looked through the FAQ'S and didn't find/couldn't understand what i was looking for. Looking for a pretty simple swap with little to no modifications. Pretty much plug and play. I don't care if the head is vtech or not. My dumbass put a 95 head on the 97 because i needed a head right away to get my daily driver back. Well i was un aware that the 95 has a bigger combustion chamber. So. I have lost a lot of power. I could get another stock 97 head but if i'm pulling the head might as well see what my options are.

I heard a H22A head will bolt on. If that's true i'm still not sure as to what part's/mods need to be used/done. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

From what I have read the swap that you are looking at doing with the heads (you would be doing a G30? or G20?). I have been doing reading on it and it looks like what you have to do with the H22A heads is block two extra oil drains on the head for it to work. I am not 100% sure as I have a F23A but I would assume that they would be closely related.

I got a lot of my information from just looking around the internet. I have been trying to get some response from here because I would like to set up a thread for a walk through on it. I will let you know things as I find them out.

Also, is your original head SOHC or DOHC?

So I would have to block off a couple of oil ports? Would that be in the head or block? The F22B2 is a SOHC engine

just remember if you put a vtec head on a non vtec block to remove the oil control orifice from the block

Ok yeah. That's in the top middle of the f series block under the head right?

From what I have read all you will have to do is block the oil ports. I myself think that the belts will be a problem to get it to work properly but once its together people have said it works with minimal work.

Ok cool. This is going to sound stupid but I don't plan on using the vtec. Just basically to bolt on a DOHC instead of having a SOHC.

So if you don't want to run VTEC and you want DOHC, you are looking for an H23 or Japanese F22B DOHC head. that should bolt on with no issues. You will need the complete intake and throttle body. H23 exhaust header and downpipe would also be a good option.

Also remember that without milling the head you will probably loose compression/power.

So how did you find out that your 97 head had larger combustion chambers than the 95, did you CC them to get the actual volume?

No I did not. I checked with a guy who deals with only imports and deals with swaps. Someone has a problem with a swap they go to him he fixes it. He is the one who told me that the combustion chamber's are bigger on the 95 vs the 97. That's why I lost so much power.

Not the jdm f22b head should bolt up with out milling the head or any special parts? And what kits will I need ie timing belt kit head gasket etc same question as if I did the h23

Not sure where he got that info from but from the heads that I have worked on all the 94-97 F22B1 and F22B2 heads have relatively the same size combustion chamber. Not enough difference to cause a major drop in compression or power.

if I'm not mistaken there is a thread around here somewhere detailing the exact gears, gaskets and belts that you need to do the DOHC H23/F22B head swap. I can't remember right off hand but the timing gears are the same tooth count as the F22B1/2.
