1997 Civic LX stock performance??
First off, I know it's supposed to be slow. ha-ha. I just don't remember my previous Hondas being this slow. I have a 1997 Honda Civic LX 5 speed. All stock. Runs fantastic, but it seems a little slower than any of my previous Civics. Is it just me?

My previous car was a WRX so my "seat of the pants" acceleration figures could very well be askew. My most recent Honda was a 1995 Si Civic, so it had the 1.6 sohc vtec, definitely quicker than my LX. But I don't remember my 1996 CX being this slow, although that was years ago and the CX is lighter.

Just wondering if anybody else that has owned a 96-00 LX 5 speed, has an opinion to share on the performance of the LX. It seems as though it is less than eager to climb to the redline. No hesitation or bogging or anything like that.

No check engine lights, 207k, and a recent timing belt change. All stock including air box and exhaust.
*
Any info would be awesome.

Also I'm looking for some sweet JDM 14" wheel covers!

Same boat haha mine is the same way I have a 98 lx 5 speed Mine is slow as ever. Ive done the spark plugs and wires. Both oem. Along with air filter. Going to do a fuel filter soon but I'm sure it's supposed to be slow. But I also have an exhaust leak out of the exhaust manifold as well lol
Check the cap and rotor as well. And fix the exhaust leak because it can make the engine run rich = poor gas mileage.
Thanks! I figured as much. A tune up is definitely coming soon. The more I drive it the more I realize it must just be me. I don't drive it hard. Only part throttle. Just glad to finally find another nice old Civic. A good clean Civic (EG, EK) is definitely a lot harder to find nowadays.
