Anyone ever heard of a race intake like this??
Well, i was told by the guys at importreview, jeff i think it was, that he has found on the dyno and on the track that you can make more power with a 3" intake pipe that attaches to the throttle body, then extends out where the passengers headlight would normally be, and has a filter on the end, and the filter sticks out in front of the bumper a little. He said that this is a better way to go than the iceman race scoop headlight intake. Then i also remember seeing on espn a while back, in the NA class, there were like 2 guys running this setup. What do you guys think about this idea? Does anyone use this, or anyone tried it? I would like to get some opinions before i look dumb with a filter hanging out of my headlight at the dragstrip. Thanks guys!!

ya its works pretty good. i dont know how much diff from the scoop type. we used to use the scoop type a couple yrs ago and changed it to the filter stickin out way just recently. havent really noticed much diff between the two but with the places that we race, there are alot of dust so we decided to just use the filter way.
dont think it looks dumb, cuz it works. roughly 2tenths gain on average.

Okay, thats good to hear, so you think that it seems to work pretty comparably to the iceman scoop that you used to have? I just really dont like the idea of sucking unfiltered air in my motor. But I still want to do what ever is quicker.
iceman/scoop way is good, but the filter way is just as good in my opinion. there may be a little bit of diff but i dont think its that much to have to have to use the scoop over the filter. since most of us are daily cars, we cant risk stuff flying into the motor so go the filter way.. just make sure you tie the filter down tight as well as the piping. on hard launches. the pipe has to stay on you know.
also, put some duct tape on the outer part of the pipe where it will be laying or hitting the bumper to protect anything from scratching.
