spark plug tube seal

Default spark plug tube seal

I replaced the tube seals for all four, i replaced them because there was oil in the spark plug wells. I felt great after i was done, i let someone borrow the car and when they came back they said they had problems turning it on, i had already a day driving it before this, so i checked it again and there was oil in the wellsagain. I cleaned it and used torque rench to tighten everything to the specific torque. I had already bought everything new. I dont know what the problem is.

This is where I was headed with this...

Is the oil only at the bottom of the spark plug tubes or do you see a light coating all the way up and down the tubes?

If you only replaced the lower seals, the uppers in the valve cover could still be the source of leakage or vice versa.

I second that. Or triple or whatever.
Had similar issue in a d seres. Took off the Valve cover and the rocker arm assembly.
The o rings are underneath the assembly... I would go to parts store and order them thy don't have them in stock.

Lordco here only had the lowers in a full head gasket kit. I have to get them directly from Honda if I only want those seals. Lordco didn't even have just a valve cover type kit.

I only replaced 4 of them wich are the ones where the wells are at, should i just replace them all

There are 4 on the valve cover those are referred as the top ones.
And there are 4 other ones on the underside of the rocker arm assembly (bottom seals) you have to pull it out and flip it, you'll see them there. There are 3 circles and the another that looks like an 8

You'll have to get the part number and have the parts store order them or order from honda.. Sorry I don't have pics.

Ill try and see if thats the problem thanks alot, i knew about these seals but it just didnt come to my mind.

Assuming D-series non vtec. Vtec they did away with the split tubes. I think even the D15Z1 e-vtec is solid tower instead of split. Never really looked into it.

Not sure about pre 1.5 Liter.

Not sure what other motors have the split spark plug towers... I always thought after they went away from the design with the 1.6L vtec they never went back to it. So rules out 96-00 motors.

Just figured since he replaced some seals and still leaks it was a split tower design. And being he posted in the 92-00 forum. Only leaves the D15B8 and D15B7 as far as I know.
