i just bought a 88 civic si but it has no tranny so i called my local junkyard and they said that they didn't have a tranny for a crx si but they had one that would fit it. but when i got it home it is out of a 4 door sdn with a 1.5 liter motor will this work and if so do i oreder the cluth,presureplate and throw out bearing and pilot bearing for an 88 si ?

 

is the trans from an 88 also

they changed the trans... 88 have different spline count than 89-91

but yes it will work and buy a clutch for your same car if the trans is an 88

if the trans is a different year.. you will probably be able to use it but gotta get different clutch combo.

ok, the 1.5L trans will bolt up, but will NOT be the same gearing as the Si trans. 89-91 trans all had the same input shaft splines. 88 had different splines, so you may need to change the disk if you didnt get an 88 trans.
